A Quick Sensory Exercise to Come Back to Yourself
I recently shared a YouTube video about a tarot reading for when old layers come back to the surface, making it feel like healing is infinite and out of reach.
After publishing that video (you can watch it below), I felt called to share a very quick grounding exercise that I was taught in therapy, and that I’ve also loved using in my women’s circles.
It’s a simple way to explore the senses, reconnect to yourself, or gently anchor into something external.
At the moment, this is my go-to when I feel panic arising or when I notice my mind starting to spiral.
Deeply connected to the senses, it reminds me that I am here, on Earth, part of nature. It often leaves me with a sense of nurturing and cocooning.
In short, it’s a simple but powerful practice to help you ground and reconnect with yourself.
You may already know it but if not, I hope it supports you.
1 ) Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
2) Take three deep breaths and feel your body fully without judgement.
3) Open your eyes and let your eyes wander and get caught for a second on 5 different things.
4) Close your eyes and notice 4 points of contacts or sensations in your body.
5) Notice 3 different sounds. ( This one is my favourite, I usually stay there for a while).
6) Notice 2 different smells ( You can move around if you wish )
7) Finally, notice the taste in your mouth ( Probably still imprinted of your last food or drink ).
And that’s it, simple as that.
Let me know in the comments if you already knew this practice or how it felt for you.
